About Us
LS29 is a local charity for families who have children and young people with additional needs living in Ilkley and the surrounding area. We offer activities, events, short breaks, peer support and a genuine community - because no family should feel alone in this.
What We Do
We organise a varied programme of activities throughout the year, ranging from local sessions to overnight and residential breaks.
They are designed to suit a wide range of ages, needs and abilities.
What we offer includes:
-
Weekend and holiday family activities - days out, farm trips, splash parks, live music and more
-
Overnight and residential breaks - including trips to Centre Parcs, Blackpool and the Calvert Trust
-
Sensory and private sessions - exclusive swimming, soft play and sensory environments
-
Youth Zone - a dedicated programme for older children and teenagers, with discos, cinema trips, cooking sessions and evenings out that support independence
-
Parent and carer events - connection days, evenings out and spa breaks, just for the grown-ups
-
Cultural experiences - theatre, pantomime, concerts and more
All activities are family-attended, meaning parents and carers come along. This isn’t just for practicality - it’s part of what makes LS29 work. The parents are the community too.

Who We Are
LS29 was founded in 2006 by a group of local parents who felt there simply wasn’t enough support in the area for families with additional needs. Nearly two decades later, we’re still here - still parent-led, still volunteer-run, and now supporting over 200 member families.
The charity is governed by a board of trustees who bring a range of professional expertise alongside their personal experience as parents and carers. That combination of lived experience and professional rigour is at the heart of everything we do.
We also work closely with partner organisations including Moor Time, Exclusively Inclusive, Bradford Stronger Together, Summat Creative and Outside the Box Café, building connections that open up more opportunities for our members
